A woman standing at a Chicago bus stop was nearly robbed at gunpoint this week. Surveillance video does not show the moment she fired at the man, striking him in the neck, but in the later portion of the video, she has clearly been knocked to the ground. Local Chicago news ran this story.
Concealed carry has been legal in Chicago since 2012, when its ban was struck down as unconstitutional. (Illinois was the last state in the union to allow concealed carry.) If the people-on-the-street interviews in this video are any indication, Chicago communities are thankful that they now have the right to defend themselves.
